Welcome to Practice and Learn, a blog about American slang, informal language, idioms and literary classics.
For motivated learners who are interested in improving their English and need some resources to achieve this, we warmly welcome you to this blog, hoping that the material found here will be useful for you and will provide the necessary tools to continue learning.  


BLOG STRUCTURE

This blog is divided into three parts. The first two parts use as the main source of material the videos from Thug Notes* in which the books To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and Lolita by Vladimir Nabókob are summarized and analyzed
Once you've watched the videos, you can continue to the practice section. 


You can find a list of different idioms and slang words and expressions, , and multiple exercises to practice. 
You will also find a part of different regions where we explain further the slang in different places. 
If you want more practice, there's also a section of other resources where you can find different sites containing exercises and authentic material.
    *Thug Notes is an American educational web series that summarizes and analyzes various literary works in a comedic manner. The host of the series is Sparky Sweets, Ph.D., portrayed by actor and comedian Greg Edwards.
    According to The New York Times, Thug Notes is "A genial fellow using the moniker Sparky Sweets, Ph.D. serves up video summaries of classics in the language of the street, throwing in a minute or two of analysis for good measure."
